7 Up 7 Down Guide: Reading Ranges, Combinations and Payouts

The Total Is the Result

Two dice give one total, but the three areas cover different outcomes. Read their ranges and payouts before looking for patterns in old rolls.

A Round from Selection to Settlement

  • Choose a Total Range: The usual board divides the possible sums into three areas:

Down Covers the Lower Totals: Choose Down for a sum of 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6. Count both dice.
Up Covers the Higher Totals: Up covers 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. A sum of seven is not included.
Seven Is a Separate Choice: Only a combined total of seven qualifies for this selection.

  • How Broad Is Down? For two fair six-sided dice, fifteen of thirty-six ordered pairs give a sum below seven.
  • How Broad Is Up? Up also covers fifteen of thirty-six ordered pairs, the same number as Down.
  • How Often Is Seven Possible? Six ordered pairs make seven, fewer than either broad range.
  • Wait for Both Dice: The system or dealer reveals the complete pair before settlement.
  • Add the Face Values: The combined sum identifies which area qualifies for payment.

Read the Quoted Return:

  • The listing commonly gives Up and Down a quoted payment of 1:1 on a win; check whether the shown return includes your stake.
  • For an exact seven , the source quotes 4:1 or 5:1. Check the version’s rules; the larger quote alone does not establish better value.
